Crafted for Every Level of Matcha Drinker: A Premium, Ceremonial-Grade Matcha Experience

Our matcha is directly sourced from a 3rd generation family farm located in the lush hillsides of Wazuka, Kyoto, Japan, where the clay-rich soil is optimal for cultivating green tea leaves that ultimately become our ceremonial grade matcha. The Okumidori Cultivar, a remarkable blend of Yabukita and Shizuoka Zairai tea plants, delivers a delightful combination of umami, a touch of astringency, and a refreshing, elegant aroma.

The tea leaves are plucked once a year in May during the peak harvest season and undergo a rigorous process of steaming, drying, sifting, and cutting to prevent oxidation. The leaves are then stone-ground into a fine powder, sealed in airtight bags, and placed inside Dona tea tins. We air-freight our matcha direct from Japan, shortening shipping times from 3-4 months to several weeks, ensuring freshness.

Our matcha is crafted for a premium, ceremonial-grade matcha experience. Rich in umami flavor, it harmoniously blends toasty notes with a nutty-like aroma. The stone-milling process ensures that the matcha is smooth, creamy, and easy to whisk.

To maintain freshness, store the matcha in the refrigerator. When preparing, use a wide-mouth, ceramic or porcelain bowl and a matcha whisk made from white bamboo to thoroughly combine the matcha powder with water without scratching the bowl.

Scoop 1 tsp (2 g) of matcha into the bowl, add 2.5 ounces of 170°F hot water, and whisk vigorously until the matcha is frothy and combined. To create an iced matcha latte, pour the whisked matcha into a glass of ice, add 6 oz of milk of choice, and stir. For a hot matcha latte, add the whisked matcha to a mug and add 6 oz of hot or steamed milk of choice.

Our matcha is 100% ceremonial grade, vegan, gluten-free, and contains zero sugar. The natural occurring amino acid L-theanine found in matcha calms the effects of caffeine, providing a sustained energy boost while relaxing the mind and body.

Dona is a small business proudly based in Brooklyn, NY, and we are confident that our matcha will provide a premium, ceremonial-grade experience for all levels of matcha drinkers.
